DNGConverter_9_6_1.pkg does not load on Mac OS 10.11.6

I downloaded  the DNGConverter_9_6_1.dng file

I double clicked on the above file - DNGConverter_9_6_1.pkg icon appears in a new window

I double clicked on the DNGConverter_9_6_1.pkg icon and a small window appears "Verifying 'DNGConverter_9_6_1.pkg'" appears with a progress line

waited ten minutes and no progress takes place.

(repeated this process three times and DNG Converter is not installed)

I ran this package on my Mac OS 10.11.4, it installed and converted my files to .DNG
