Problem Viewing DNG Files in Windows Photo VIewer w/ Windows 10

Ok first, I would like to use windows photo viewer. I know of the other options.  I just bought a new dell computer and discovered (like many others) that windows photo viewer had issues. I have scoured the internet with no final solution.  I did get windows photo viewer on the new computer and can view almost any format of photo, other than DNG.  Now here is the weird part.  If I put one of the files that you can set the default to windows photo viewer in the folder with DNGs I can thumb through the DNGs. Without a JPEG or TIFF (for example) photo viewer is not an option.  SO while I have a work around I feel like I am so close. Maybe its stubbornness but I would like to open a DNG through default with windows photo viewer. Its just super weird that if I put a JPEG in the folder with DNGs I am able to view all the DNGs.

I have tried to set defaults through right clicking the photo as well as under the control panel and there is no visible way for me to select windows photo viewer.

One last thing, I have found the link for the codec but its no longer there: (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5495).

I just feel like this is something easily fixed. Most of the other forums discussions I have found have not helped.  Being able to view them indirectly through windows photo viewer is a start, but again I have to have a jpeg in the folder.

Thank you all, Ray

DNG Converter 9.11 applies film simulation to Fuji X-T2 and X-T20 files

I discovered today when I used DNG converter to ingest some recent images from my X-T2 that the converter was applying the Acros simulation to the raw files. Until a few days ago it was processing them normally. I happened to still have some old images on the card that I had already converted successfully (i.e. in color with no simulation) and sure enough, when I ran them through DNG again, the converter applied the simulation to them, too. I solved the problem by updating to 9.12, but I feel this is a very serious bug that Adobe should be made aware of - if I was in the habit of deleting my images off the cards immediately following conversion, I would have been screwed. Anyone know what might have happened?

DNG Converter no longer supporting some files?

As the DNG converter has been updated over the years, has it stopped recognizing some file extensions (or perhaps camera models)?  I updated several levels and it will no longer open any CR2 files.  To be sure I wasn't just doing something wrong myself, I tried to convert a CR2 file that I had converted over the weekend in an older version.  Same file, same source folder (as it only lets you select a folder and not the file itself).

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

DNG converter doesn't use all CPU cores: how to optimise?

I have a PC with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600x CPU (6 cores, 12 threads) running Windows 10.

When I use the Adobe DNG Converter, CPU utilisation ranges from 14 to 32%, but never goes above 32. Is there a way to get the DNG converter to use all cores?

Converting a large number of files should lend itself well to parallelisation, because the conversion of each file is totally independent of the converison of the others, so it should be quite straightforward to divide the total files across the available cores.

Thanks!

Feature requests DNG converter

Hello!

Due to a lack of Lightroom support for my new camera till now I currently have to use DNG converter.

Its better to have than not being able to shoot and handle raw files in Lightroom, but its not ideal.

I am using the Mac version 9.12

As I have a folder approach which might have additional raw files in there it would be good to have a filer

which files should be converted, (guess best would be a REGEX), but at least a prefix (like DSC_) and suffix (like NEF).

Some more points regards the CLI function of DNG Converter.

* please add a -h / --help and an info if no CLI arguments are given to inform about the usage

* please add a verbose option to see which file is currently converted

* please add a progress indicator to see how many files have been processed / still queued

* I could not find an option to use a capital letter suffix .DNG instead of .dng (possible in the GUI)

DNG files overexposed in Adobe products

When opening a DNG file created with our devices (smartphones) in any Adobe product the image looks overexposed. We have been able to pinpoint the metadata responsible for the overexposed DNG files. The parameter is: White Level. Our devices have a value of 1023 for this field. When opened with other RAW file developing tools (Darktable for example) the images exposure look very similar to the JPG file but overexposed when opened in any Adobe products. After changing the metadata to 2047 with Exiftool the image looks similar to the JPG but then other applications show the image underexposed.

Attached is a screenshot of the 3 images. From left to right: JPG file, original DNG and modified DNG with White Level set to 2047.

What is the reason for that? Are we creating the DNG files wrong? Could it be corrected with a camera profile included in Adobe products?

DNG Converter making NEF image notably darker

Hello! I recently got a Nikon d5500, only to find that the Raw file type won't work with Lightroom 5 which is all I can afford right now. So I used the Adobe Digital converter to turn them into DNGs so I could edit them. I noticed though that the images became a step or two darker once converted. Am I using the Converter wrong? Is this normal? I've included an example of what it did. If I could get any help I'd appreciate it.

DNG Converter 9.12.1 only shows Camera Raw 7.1 after install

I have tried installing this a couple of times and it still will only show Camera raw 7.1 in preferences. I tried using it as the stand alone application and in Lightroom 6.12, neither can see the RAW files of my Nikon D850, seems stuck on 7.1, even after I delete all the library files and pref files in preferences and re-install. So any way to get this un-stuck?

DNGConverter multiple About screens - minor bug

Not sure if this is the place for reporting bugs... this is for DNGConverter 9.12 on Windows 10.

I noticed that if you click the About button multiple times you get multiple About panels.

Click About, move the main windows, click About again.

Certainly just cosmetic but should be low-hanging fruit for the dev team.

Hi - I just tried DNG Converter 9.12.1 on Win 8.1 and Win 10 and neither (2 different computers) can see the RAW files.  I've tried it will uncompressed RAW L and lossless compressed RAW L files, both when the files are on the hard drive and when they're on the XQD card reader via USB. I've attached screenshots of what it looks like.  Help please?  Thanks.

Why the ture intensity value of DNG out of the range Matlab shows(blacklevel & whitelevel)?

$

When using Matlab to deal with a DNG picture,it shows that the BlackLevel and WhiteLevel is 2047 and 15000 respectively.

But there still exists a weird phenomenon that the intensity values of some pixels are out of this range (2047-15000), such as 1997, 15297.

Why???

Adboe DNG converter changes creation date

When converting RW2 files to DNG the converter changes "date created" to to-days date - this is really unwanted. Date taken is unchanged but can't be used, e.g. for naming files.  Can this be fixed?  (  I can see that this was an issue in 2012 and it still is)

Windows Viewer not able to read DNG generated by RAF camera Fujifilm X30

Good morning. Since September, I have a problem. Until then, it had not occurred to me, but since then, when converting to DNG files RAF generated by my camera Fujifilm X30, trying to visualize the viewer in Windows, it automatically closes.

I also have a Nikon D7100 and the Nikon NEF generated, there is no problem. I have neither the conversion of the RAF Fujifilm generated until August 2015.

The problem I had so far with the viewer Windows 7, and I still have to upgrade to Windows 10.

Please pray Adobe LR some technical help me find a solution.

Thank you.

Setting of the AsShotNeutral and ColorMatrix

Now, I want to create a dng file with my camera, and set the AsShotNeutral as follow:

1. I get the white balance ratio as GainR, GainG, GainB, and set the AsShotNeutral as: GainG/GainR; 1; GainG/GainB.

    For example, the GainR = 6508, GainG = 4096, GainB = 7609; the AsShotNeutral is [0.629379, 1, 0.538309]

2. The colormatrix is D50 XYZtoRGB as follow:

     3.1338561 -1.6168667 -0.4906146
      -0.9787684  1.9161415  0.0334540
      0.0719453 -0.2289914  1.4052427

Then I capture a dng file with my camera, and open the dng with the photoshop. It looks ok, however, when I change the exposure time from 1.40 to -1.40, the bright white become s light pink.
